Diabetes and Foot Care

Regularly examine your feet for any problems.  Treat any cuts, bruises, grazes or marks with suspicion and either treat it yourself or see a doctor as soon as possible.

It’s good to see a Podiatrist or your doctor for regular checkups to examine your feet and explain what to look for.

Manage your diabetes – Having a healthy lifestyle (healthy diet and exercise) makes you less likely to have foot problems.

For elderly people who are unable to treat their own nails, it is important that they see a podiatrist every 6 weeks in summer and every 6-8 weeks in winter.  If you are managing your own nails you should still be reviewed by a podiatrist once every 6 months to ensure that your skin and nails are in good condition.

If you prefer to have your foot care done at home, consider using a mobile podiatrist.

Remember prevention is the key!
