We all know that excess fat is bad for your heart, but did you know that a “fatty liver”, as well as excess fat in the blood and muscle tissue, may be a risk factor for osteoporosis later in life. People with higher levels of fat in their liver also had higher levels of fat in their bone marrow, therefore creating weaker bones. So how do we prevent this? A healthy diet rich in calcium sources (such as dairy products, omega 3) and moderate exercise is a start! Any exercise is good for your body, particular “weight bearing” exercises to help build your bone strength.
