A recent study suggests that standing more may be beneficial for cardiovascular health. 698 Australians had their blood, weight, height and waist circumference tested before and after their seven-day lifestyle assessment. On average the participants spent their day sitting (56%), followed by 31% standing and 13% engaged in physical activity. The study data suggests that two hours spent walking rather than sitting leads to an 11% decrease in BMI and a 7.5cm smaller waist circumference as well as improvements in lipid profile.
