Plantar fasciitis is a relatively common cause of heel and arch pain. It is most often characterised by
pain underneath the heel, first step pain in the morning, and a general aching sensation with
prolonged activity.
Plantar fasciitis is often caused by prolonged overuse of the tissues. Things that can contribute to
this overload of the tissues include increase in activity, poor footwear, altered foot biomechanics,
muscle weakness, and muscle tightness.
A podiatrist can help rehabilitate the injury by examining your foot and biomechanics, muscle
strength and tightness and footwear. They will be able to provide you with footwear
recommendations, strapping and padding to help offload the area, strength programs and exercises
that help increase mobility.
My Rehab Team has mobile and in clinic podiatry service that can help you. Contact us on 1300465734 or info@myrehabteam.com.au for more information or feel free to peruse our wait time and service region pages (both have links to our referral forms).
