RETRAIN, REBUILD & RELEASE
Our History
The business was started in December 2010 by Physiotherapist Joanne Mak (Jo) after her return from working for many years in the UK. Whilst there has been a significant increase in community-based services and services linked to facilitation of discharge, many of the services remain uni-disciplinary particularly in the private sector. There was a shortage of long-term rehabilitation, maintenance support and hospital admission prevention both publicly and privately. Having a passion for rehabilitation and community services, Jo decided to pioneer MRT. The service began with one principal clinician – Joanne Mak, Physiotherapist, and a team of casual staff including an occupational therapist, nurse, a speech pathologist, a podiatrist and a counsellor, and a user/service advisor. Today, we are a team of over 20 clinicians from a myriad of disciplines. Some additions include clinical psychology, exercise physiology, dietetics, therapy assistant, fitness training, and massage therapy.
